Fruits and vegetables are low in calories but contain varying amounts of sugar and carbohydrates. However, this doesn’t mean you should completely avoid them. If you want to have fruits and vegetables on a low-carb diet, you can prefer fruits and vegetables with higher water content. Studies show that if the water content is high, the carb content per standard serving is low.

Here are low-carb choices of fruits and vegetables:

1. Watermelon
Watermelon is a low-carb fruit with around 7.55 g of carbs per 100g of fruit. It is also rich in vitamin A and has enormous water content to curb your hunger.

2. Strawberries
Strawberries are sweet and juicy fruits loved by everyone. These berries have an added benefit of containing only 7.68 g of carbohydrates per 100 g. They are also rich in potassium and vitamin C.

3. Peaches
This is a juicy and sweet fruit that is suitable for a low-carb diet. For each 100 g of strawberries, you’ll get only 10 g of carbohydrates. You can have it as a low-carb snack with some cottage cheese, or you can make a peach blueberry smoothie.

4. Cantaloupe
Cantaloupe is a popular orange melon suitable for a low-carb diet. It is a fruit that is great on a hot summer’s day and with a low carbohydrate of only 8.16 g of carbohydrate per 100 g. You can blend it with mint, lime, and water for a refreshing drink.

5. Avocados
Avocados are healthy, nutritious and creamy green fruits that have a low amount of carbohydrates. They contain an estimated amount of 8.64 g of carbs in every 100 gms. You can have the fruit as a snack in the form of yummy avocado smoothies, avocado muffins, or a dip with other fruits.

6. Apricots
Apricot is a fruit with enormous health benefits and is also good for your brain. With just 11 g of carbohydrate per 100 gms of apricots, it is a fruit suitable for a low-carb diet.

7. Cauliflower
Cauliflower is a vegetable often used by everybody. A cup of cauliflower contains only 5 g of carbohydrates.

8. Cucumbers
Cucumbers are nutritious vegetables and can be added to any salad, and you can also have them with the peel. They contain only 3.63 g of carbs per 100 g with the peel on, which is suitable for a low-carb diet. Peeled cucumbers contain only 2.16 g of carbs per 100 g.

9. Broccoli
Broccoli is a great substitute for potatoes and can be used in soups if you want to have a low-carb soup. For every 100 g of broccoli, you’ll get only 7 g of carbs.

10. Mushrooms
Mushrooms are commonly used in soups, and even if you crave for pizzas, you can have low-carb pizza-stuffed mushrooms. White mushrooms contain just 3.3 g of carbs in every 100 gms.

11. Lettuce
Lettuce is a low-carb vegetable with a number of health benefits. You get just 2 g of carbs from a serving of one cup of lettuce.
