Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a digestive disorder that causes acid to rise from the stomach into the esophagus. Normally during digestion, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) allows food to pass to the stomach by opening, and prevents it from flowing back up the esophagus by closing. When the LES is weak or too relaxed, it allows contents in the stomach to climb into the esophagus. Food plays an important role in GERD.

1. Bananas
Banana is one of the low-acid fruits which helps people with acid reflux. Bananas are rich in fiber which are helpful to the digestive system. The soluble fiber in banana is called pectin. Pectin helps in the process of digestion, which is a very good thing in the case of GERD.

2. Melons
Melons are high in fiber and also a great source of magnesium. These nutrients can be found in many medicines for acid reflux. The pH content in melon is 6.1, which makes melon a low-acid fruit.
